Get in there…

On Sunday, I joked about a time as a kid when my parents and brothers played racquetball, and I was stuck in the corner under a laundry basket, bored out of my mind. In the various sports that I participated in, I hated waiting on the bench for my turn to play. In life, I hate sitting still; I want to be a part of the action, not on the outside looking in. I am guessing many of you feel that way as well. The apostle Paul had an interesting way to describe this need for all of us to use our gifts, to contribute to God’s mission, to participate and not just look on from the sidelines. He taught us to, "...walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called," (Ephesians 4:1 ESV). This verse means that our daily life and actions should match the great honor of belonging to God. 

Part of this honor means that we get involved where God has designed and asked us to be involved. Some people wonder why they are not growing spiritually, not hearing God’s voice, and not making strides in their faith. My guess is part of the reason is that they are ignoring God’s invitation to participate in His mission (Luke 19:10), to connect (Hebrews 10:25), and to use their gifts for His glory. (1 Peter 4:10)

This past weekend at Hope, we hosted a Ministry Fair – an opportunity to get connected with many of the significant ministries here. I want to invite you to consider making a deeper connection with the ministries of Hope. We believe we are better together, and we believe that we are better when you are a part of what we are doing. I believe we are all better together, and we will be better because of you sharing with others the gifts that God has given you.
