Our Core Values

Our Denomination

Hope Church belongs to the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA).

We affirm the statement of faith of our denomination and identify with their positions on major theological issues. For more information about the C&MA, see their website.

We Take God at His Word

We believe God’s word is true. We are committed to being self-feeders of God’s word. We are committed to teaching all of God’s truth, shamelessly using God’s inspired word as our standard of truth. We are thankful that we still have access to the author. (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Romans 12:2)

We Walk by Faith

We pray first. We are desperately dependent upon the Holy Spirit. We believe that nothing of lasting value can be done un- less it is bathed in prayer. We know that apart from God we can accom- plish nothing. We deal with sin, knowing sin always separates us from our savior and one another. (John 15:5-11, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

We Keep It Simple

We seek to do a few things well. Weekly large-group gatherings, corporate prayer, and intentional burden bearing small- group communities. We believe qualified and equipped leadership is essential. We say no to good things to protect the best things. (Hebrews 10:24-25, Matthew 22:36-40, Micah 6:8)

We Are All In

We believe excellence honors God and inspires people. We refuse to offer up to God what costs us nothing. We are committed to caring about the needs of others over ourselves. We strive to invest in our growth and leadership capacity for His glory. (Colossians 3:17, 2 Samuel 24:24, 2 Corinthians 8:7)

We Row Together

Collaboration is how we get things done. We believe we are better together. We believe diversity makes us all stronger. There is tremendous synergy when community is done well. We speak truth in love. We work to maintain the spirit of unity and the bonds of peace. (Ephesians 4:2-16, Colossians 3:11-17, John 17:20-23)

We Radiate Hope

We are here for Brunswick and beyond. We respond to hopelessness, need, and injustice with the redeeming power of Jesus Christ. We believe the greatest need of our world is to encounter the living God through the love of Christ. We give sacrificially to help make the Good News available to all. We are an authentic people known for our transparency, integrity and sincerity. We want to be known for what we are for, not what we are against. (Philippians 2:1-11, Matthew 5:13-16, Acts 1:8)

We Do Hospitality

We make space for new relationships in our lives. We act on the fact that our things are not for our benefit but for the benefit of others. We warmly expect others to join us. We are humble enough to allow others into our lives, even the imperfect parts. (Titus 1:8, 1 Peter 4:8- 9, Matthew 25:42-46)
